We are deeply saddened by the news that one of our much-loved school families was on board the fatal Air India flight from Ahmedabad to Gatwick.
Akeel, Hannaa and Sara were an integral part of our school community. As devoted parents, they were always the first to offer help — whether it was fundraising, volunteering for school events, or quietly stepping in to support with odd jobs behind the scenes. Hannaa, in particular, had a deep love of learning and a strong belief in the power of education. She supported the school not only as a parent but as a committed contributor to our wider ethos of community and care.
Their daughter Sara was a joyful, bright presence in school, known to be curious, kind, and full of life. Her absence will be deeply felt by both staff and pupils.
This tragedy has struck at the heart of our school family. We are devastated, and we now begin the difficult process of grieving together and supporting one another through the days and weeks ahead. Our priority is the wellbeing of our pupils, staff, and the extended school community as we come to terms with this loss. We will be providing pastoral support to our children and staff in the coming days should they need it.
We ask that the privacy of the family and the school is respected at this time. Any formal updates will be shared through the appropriate channels.
On behalf of the entire school, we extend our deepest thoughts and support to all those affected.
All media queries need to be passed on to the headteacher.
We are now accepting applications for our reception class for September 2025.

On behalf of the school governing body, the staff, and our entire school family, it gives me great pleasure to welcome you to Al-Ashraf Primary School, part of a family of schools run under the proprietorship of Al-Madani Educational Trust (Registered Charity No. 1134963).
Situated in the heart of Gloucester, our Islamic primary school began as a humble community project with a single class in 2006. By the will of Allah (SWT), it has now grown into a fully-fledged nursery and school, catering for children aged between 2-11, alhamdulillah. We pride ourselves on providing a world-class education which serves a moral purpose. Our aim is to help nurture truly incredible young people by supporting them Islamically, morally, and academically, to become their very best, so that they may flourish into strong Muslim individuals; individuals who will benefit our community and our wider society. Together with this, we also aim to provide an environment where children feel happy, secure and safe.
The school continues to go from strength to strength, which is reflected in the high levels of attainment of our children. Our ambitious curriculum is designed around our school values whereby our children are nurtured to become creative, critical and contributing Muslim citizens. We have recently invested in development opportunities for our staff to create a school driven by research, collaboration and partnerships with other schools so that we remain innovative and make the best decisions for our children. We also take pride on our close partnership with parents and the community which yields the very best developmental opportunities for our school.
Over and above our academic provision, we take pride in our safe, caring, moral and spiritual environment wherein pupils are nurtured to develop good AKHLAQ (morals & manners) based on the noble teachings of our beloved Prophet Muhammad (sall-Allahu alaihi wa sallam), which are represented in our school values:
We hope that by embedding these qualities into our children across the school, we create children with Firm Roots, Branches in the Sky, insha-Allah. We are confident, with Allah's help and mercy, the school will continue to flourish and succeed in its aims, insha-Allah.
Rabbana Taqabbal Minna Innaka Antas Samee-ul-Aleem.
O our Lord, accept from us for You are the all-hearing, all-knowing. (Holy Qur'an)
