Last term KS3 studied the movement of Arte Povera (poor art) and were inspired by how Designers and makers can create art from free and recyclable items that we can find in abundance. They looked at the works of El Anatsui whose art features numerous plastic bottle tops creating beautiful epic pieces. With inspiration from the works of nature and land artists Year 7 created some wonderful artworks using found and natural items.
Year 8 displayed their creativity by producing various types of artwork, from a headband accessory that had been crocheted from a plastic grocery store bag, to a doll house bedroom, complete with functioning wardrobe doors and miniature hanging clothes inside.
Year 9 also pushed the boundaries of what we can create from a simple cardboard packaging box, re-cycling, re-designing and reusing materials to create an assortment of shoe designs. Some amazing ideas. Masha Allah!
